Dreams can come true!

David Nick has been picked up by the Diamondbacks!  We are so excited for David and his family!  David has worked so hard at fulfilling his dream of being a pro baseball player.  He and his family have sacrificed and have worked together to make his dream a reality.  This morning, David received word that he will become part of the Diamondback organization and we are so happy for the Nick family.  David is an amazing person, he puts God before all things and we are thankful that God has blessed him in this way!!!  Congratulations David!!!

Had to be there!

On Saturday evening Bob and I went to our friends John and Cathy's (picture on the left) house for dinner, featuring yummy Carne Asada tacos (made by John on the Barbeque).  They are the parents of 4 young children.  Ryan, who is in kindergarten and 2 1/2 yr. old triplets: Jackson, Savannah and Kiley.  You can imagine how busy they are.

Cathy put the little ones to bed and we started talking about technology.  John asks, "are you still blogging?".  Cathy asks, "whats a blog, is it like facebook".  So we start the discussion, what is a blog, where do you find time, what do you put in it?  So I reply, "a blog is kind of like a journal and my kids are pretty much grown and since I don't work, I find plenty of time to blog".  Here Bob interjects that my blog is pretty much where I show off pictures of my tablescapes.  "What's a tablescape?".  I proceed to tell John and Cathy what a tablescape is. John has a confused look on his face.  John tilts his head, one eyebrow goes up and then he says, "So let me get this straight.  You set up the table all fancy, every week, with no intention of using it for dinner.  You take pictures of it. You post it on the blog".  We all start laughing! "Yes!! that's what I do, but when you say it like that, it makes it sound so silly", I say.  "Then" says John, "You shop constantly to buy more stuff for your tables, that you don't eat on and just take pictures of!"  Bob remarks, "Oh, John, you have no idea!"  We are all laughing hysterically by this point and Bob says "See what I have to put up with, John".  John calls Cathy over and says, "High Five, Cathy.  Of all the crazy, weird hangups you have, none compare to this!!".  Cathy agrees.  I try to defend myself by saying, "Its like a club.  Women from across the United States do it".  "Do you know them, do you have lunch with them, do you meet?"  No, I reply, but many have become my friends even though I've never met them.  "Cathy, Cathy, I feel so lucky to have you!".  We are laughing so hard, tears are coming out of my eyes!

Birthday Luncheon!

Wow!!!  Look at that presentation!  Cynthia made these delicious Molten Chocolate Brownies for our birthday luncheon on Friday.  When she called and asked if she could bring brownies, I was expecting brownies in a pan-imagine my surprise when she unveiled these babies!  (Cynthia is very artistic, but I haven't seen it put into action in this way!)

Then she whipped out this beautiful birthday package for Annette!  What a work of art!  You almost hate to open it!  Almost.
Annette and I getting ready to load up our plates with some southern fried chicken (courtesy of KFC -sshh don't tell anyone).  We were also meeting that day to talk about our trip to Charleston and Savannah.  We are going to have so much fun!
To true friendship and many more birthday celebrations!  The girls requested the black and white tablescape, so I obliged!  We laughed and laughed, it was so fun!

Happy Birthday, Annette!

Tomorrow is my best friend Annettes 50th Birthday.  Doesn't she look awesome for 50!!!  I didn't want her to get lost in Tablescape Thursday, so I honoring her today.

Annette and I have been friends for at least 16 years, through good times and bad.  My daughter Katie and her son David went from preschool through Jr. High together and the same for my daughter Delaney and her daughter Natalie.

Annette is kind, loving, loyal, strong, enthusiastic, hard working, and forgiving.  She is a lover of God, her family, baseball and her friends.  In that order!  Haha, just kidding about baseball!  Or am I???

Happy Birthday, Cynthia!

Happy Birthday to my best friend Cynthia!!!  She is 47 years young today.  She is kind, loyal, sarcastically funny, compassionate, a rule breaker, generous, artistic, and  sentimental.  I could go on and on, but I don't have that great of a vocabulary!!!

Yeah, we know one of the best baseball players in the country

Friends since preschool
The camera loved David

On Saturday we went all the way to Dodger's Stadium to watch Annette's son David play in the AFLAC All-American baseball game. It was carried live on FSN.  It started at noon and it was hot. Everyone was hanging out under the 2nd level to be in the shade, so I had a fantastic seat right in front so I could watch all the action.  My two daughters are wimps and went and sat in the shade after only 10 minutes.

David represented the West and he is destined for great things.  He is committed to UCLA, but hopefully he will go pro.  He is a fabulous kid and has worked hard.  He has a passion for baseball and he is enjoying every minute of it.  The West was ahead the whole game (David scored a run) 2-0 and then lost in the last inning by 2.  The East rallied and scored 4 runs!  David was kind enough to come by and say hi before he went to the Dugout Club for a big spread.  As we were leaving, we received a goodie bag that had baseball cards in it.  We did not get David in our bag, so we stood outside trading cards with family and friends of other players until we got the coveted David Nick baseball card.  I will be bringing it to you on Tuesday Annette so David can sign it!
