Thanksgiving Table

Please join our Hostess, Susan, at Between Naps on the Porch, for other beautiful tablescapes.
This is actually my second Thanksgiving table. I had a beautiful orange fairy tale pumpkin in the center which began to rot. For about 4 days we could smell something. We weren't sure what it was. I checked the whole house, looking at my dogs and asking them what they did that I hadn't found yet! I couldn't figure it out and the smell was getting stronger. Delaney came in from school and she announced that our house smelled like feet! We checked everywhere, under the tables, in corners, under the couches. It was driving us crazy. Then I decided to set the table for Thanksgiving and the smell was really strong where I was standing. Once again, I looked down. Then as I was moving the centerpiece, it crumbled before my eyes. The runner was soaked with pumpkin juice. I had to throw away two strands of acorn garland and my precious leaves that Alyssa made in second grade. They were soaked in pumpkin uck and smelled so bad. I tried to wash them and air them out, but couldn't save them. So, long story short, I had to regroup.
Just about everything you see here is from HomeGoods except silverware and glassware.
My wonderful friend, Annette, picked these pilgrims up for me from TJ Maxx a couple of years ago. I use them every year.
One of my white pumpkins from Roger's Gardens. Thank you for stopping by and have a blessed Thanksgiving with those you love!

I am sorry about the pumpkin and all the damage it caused but I still giggled a little over "it smelled like feet'!!!

Your table is lovely! I love HomeGoods. The dishes are gorgeous. And the new centerpiece.

I hope you & your family have a wonderful day. I'm just waiting for that turkey to brown!

Janie, I have had that happen with pumpkins, and I switched from real ones to pottery ones for that very reason. I don't trust them anynmore! LOL!. Your table turned out beautifully, and the fan folded napkins remind me that I need to get my book of napkin folds out and work on things! Love your hurricane and all of the other elements that make this table so special.

Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and a Happy Tablescape Thursday!

XO,

Sheila :-)

Well, you did a beautiful job salvaging your Thanksgiving table!

I had that happen one year, but thankfully it was on the front doorstep! But even outside, and after soaping and hosing the area down, it took weeks and a few rainfalls before the odor was gone from the front of the house!

'Hope you enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving!
All the best,
Eileen

What a gorgeous table...love your centerpiece. So sad that you had to lose Alyssa's artwork from second grade, that is so heartbreaking.

Oh how I ALWAYS ABSOLUTELY ADORE your tablescapes. I'm still swooning over the Halloween one...sublime.
I also love the posts about your family, too. What a gorgeous group!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And painting your Horchow (I love that store--my beautiful tufted leather couch is from there!) chargers? A brilliant decision.
I can't wait to see more of your stunning work in the future.
MANY blessings to you,
Lana

Very nice table, lovely, hope your Thanksgiving day was good!
Sorry about regrouping but at least it was something like that. We had a rat get into our crawl space make a nest in insulation and die there. We kept smelling something when the heat would come on, it was aweful. So Ron crawled under and found that near one of the heat ducts, ICK!!

Just lovely. I really am liking the way you put the ribbon around the pumpkins. Makes them so airy.
Have a great weekend.
