Capri, Italy

In 2007, we took a FABULOUS Mediterranean cruise. We were gone 15 days in total and I highly recommend this vacation to everyone. You wake up everyday in a new wonderful place and you didn't have to slep your stuff all over the place or spend precious hours waiting in airports or train stations. One of the places we stopped was Naples, Italy. From there we took a boat to Capri. My girls absolutely loved Capri. We arrived at this beautiful harbor.

We then took the funicular up to the ritzy shopping area. Valentino, Versace, etc... you get the picture. We just window shopped.

The island is made up of these beautiful little alley ways that you walk along and take in all the sights. It was really hot this day and there were lemonade and lemon cello vendors everywhere. It was really good.
We so wish we could have rented a boat for the day, but there was not enough time. We also wanted to go to the blue grotto, but it was closed because the water was too rough. Alyssa got seasick on the way over, but after awhile she was okay.

We hope to go back someday.

Just Purchased...

this baby! It will go in the kitchen over the table. I love it. Of course, now I have to get a new table because as Katie pointed out, my table is too french country.

but, I think it goes great with my new coffee table in the adjoining family room.

I find I like the pictures the more time goes by. When the event is first over, I'm too critical. As time goes by, I enjoy the pictures more. Love these.

Family Update

Alyssa and Greg made their first major purchase! Alyssa bought a 2010 white Audi A4 with the sport package. Greg wanted the sport package for the handling and suspension, Alyssa wanted the sport package for the lowered body and the great wheels. Beautiful car, congratulations Alyssa and Greg. She had to order it, so she won't get it for 2 more months.
Katie has been working since August 25th on Rush for Pi Phi. She has been there from 8am to 9pm almost everyday until school started and then every minute she wasn't at school, she was at the Sorority house. I received many phone calls and requests for $$$.

Pure joy!

An added bonus, freshman Laura, who was a cheerleader with Katie at Trabuco, chose Pi Phi. Together again!

Grandma Katie and Papa are on a cross country 50th wedding anniversary trip. We are receiving updates via email. Beautiful scenery views from out the window. They started in Arizona, went through Northern Calilfornia to Oregon and then headed over to Missoula Montana. They are headed across the country to the East Coast and then back to Arizona.

Beautiful RV parks. On their way to see the Crazy Horse Monument. Can't wait to see the pictures.

Tablescape Thursday -Halloween Glamour

Being the first day of October, I was finally inspired yesterday to get some Halloween decorations out and a tablescape put together. My tablescape this week is very Glam...let's take a look. (Front door wreath from HomeGoods, $24.99)
Well, I put this table together using things I already owned. The runner is from HomeGoods bought a couple of months ago for $12.99, the chargers are from Horchow, the ones I've shown you previously that I spray painted white. Black plates from Target, bought many, many years ago and my orange plates are made by Waechtersbach and the color is orange peel. I think I bought them at dinnerplates.com, but not positive.

I bought these urns have off at Joann's along with the black glitter pumpkins last year. That is a funkin on top. Wasn't really happy with it sitting there, not sparkly enough.
So I sprayed it with spray adheasive and sprinkled glitter on it and Viola! a sparkly pumpkin. Much happier now. It took all of 10 minutes for both pumpkins. Spray adheasive is the way to go, I tried glue last year and it was a mess and the glitter didn't stick well. The orange grass was bought at Roger's gardens and those little ornament balls are from Joann's.



Towle silver, not sure of name of the pattern. Bling napkin rings from Zgallerie. Water glasses from Anthropology. Very inexpensive, I want to say about $12.00 each.
Dessert glasses or margarita glasses from Zgallerie. Very inexpensive as well.
The finished product. This table is so sparkly, I don't know if you can see it or not. Very fun, glamorous halloween table. I left out the scary, next week, you might not be as lucky!!! Thanks for stopping by.

Workout Playlist - For Marlene

There is nothing more important to a good, solid, fast paced workout than music. I have a new routine in the morning and for the cardio portion, I try to burn 700 calories each morning. If you are not talking to your friends, you need music to pump you up!!! Nothing is worse than going along at a good pace and then being slowed down by a slow song. My girlfriend was getting exasperated by having to change songs all the time during her workout. I told her to make a "workout" playlist. I got this idea from my husband, who has been working out forever and cannot live without his ipod.

Every song must be face paced, nothing slow. You have to be picky. I don't even like songs that start out slow and build up, they just wreck your pace. Pick songs that make you want to dance, songs you love, you will be listening to them alot and pick way more than you think you need. Sometimes I start my playlist at the beginning, sometimes in the middle and sometimes at the end. Looking at my playlist, I'm embarrased. You would think I'm only 17, but I just have to accept who I am...

There were so many songs that I picked that I thought were fast, by the Rolling Stones, Beatles etc. But I found that I respond better to songs with a dance beat. You will find the best ones for you through trial and error.
