Earthquake!

Last night we had a small earthquake here in the Southland!!!  It wasn't that big here, a little rumbling and a jolt!  I guess it was bigger in L.A. and lasted longer than here.  We haven't had one this big in a while.   I was sitting at the computer when it started.  The girls yelled, "is this an earthquake?" as the rumbling started and then bang! the final jolt.  I then heard glass breaking and went into Katie's room where some pictures and other goodies had fallen off one of her shelves. The glass of the big picture shattered into a million little pieces and I was trying to pick up the glass and keep the dogs from walking on it all at the same time.  Katie brought the vacuum and viola the glass was all gone.  Earthquakes always get your heart racing!

OMG!!!! Have never been in an earthquake but I am in incredible fear of them. I think that is why I have postponed visiting San Francisco!!

Thankfully your daughter was not in the path of that falling glass~scary!!

Oh gosh... I recall the earthquake feelings well! I grew up in So Cal and lived there till I was 25! All the big ones. I also lived through a San Francisco one too! I actually don't miss it one bit... I love Arizona and solid ground! Hold on Janie!

Earthquakes are unnerving! I have been through two and that is enough! Glad you are OK!

Wow, I haven't been in an earthquake since our '89 one. I don't think we get earthquakes out here in Roseville. Hey, weren't we supposed to have beach front property by now????

Thank goodness you are all okay!

We have had earthquakes, here in Missouri, believe it or not. One was about 40 years ago. My first earthquake. An area of eastern Missouri is on the New Madrid Fault. We were sitting outside a business. My two older girls were in the back seat. I was in the front. The car began to bounce and rock, so I said, ya'll shouldn't jump around! Well, I then turned around to see a 2 year old and 6 year old, with the biggest eyes I've ever seen. We later heard on the radio, there was an earthquake. We've felt a few small ones, over the years. Nothing like California, though.

All I've ever experienced are little tremors, but we do live right in the middle of the New Madrid Fault Line. Even the tremors are so unsettling, because they are such a shock. I'm so glad nothing more serious happened! laurie

The earthquake broke my dome, stand, and teacup :( I'm so mad! It was so preventable, if I had just moved it somewhere else... Earthquakes unnerve me. Glad nothing was too bad for you guys.

All the best,
Allison

HI there. Glad all was well with you. We didn't even feel it here. Which is crazy because the epicenter is only about 30mi from here.
Now, when we had the Chino quake, my whole house felt like someone had picked it up and slammed it back down on it's foundation. Whew!
I'd say this past year has been an active one for the quakes.

Oh Gosh, glad you are ok. I see there was a second one also. I have been through a couple but not like you get in CA. I don't care for them. And duh, I run to my china cabinet, like I can hold it up,LOL. I use some earthquake gel on some things to keep them on shelves etc.
Stay safe!!
Liked reading about the home tour Janie. I like to do those too.
