In Charleston, we stayed at this FABULOUS hotel. It is called the Vendue Inn. The staff was extra friendly, they had free breakfast that was made to order, ice cold water all day, wine and cheese at 5:00, cookies and milk at 9:00 and free beach cruisers to tour the city. We had a deluxe jr. suite for $169.00 a night. Great value! It was right by the ocean too. This was our bedroom.
This was the living room in the suite, it had a fireplace and tv. The sun was coming in the other side of the suite so I couldn't get a good picture. It also had a full kitchen.
These beautiful wreaths were hung on all the hotel windows down the sidewalk.
The view from the dock by our hotel.
A local, he was fishing.
I found it fascinating that the trees grew right over the curb. It California, they would have taken this tree down.
They had some of the most beautiful, gigantic houses I have ever seen!
Some were 4 stories high and were incredibly beautiful.
Pretty little planters everywhere.
Wonderfully inviting doorways.
A lot of beautiful architecture.
Charleston is some times referred to as the "Holy City" because of all the church spires.

Ambiance, architecture, history, beauty, food ... this is the most awesome city other than Savannah filled with warmth & true southern hospitality. Glad you enjoyed yourself, but you barely touched upon the city. TTFN ~Marydon
My hubby and I have always wanted to visit Charleston. You have inspired me to get busy planning. Thanks!
What a wonderful trip. I would love to have the time to visit Charleston and see all the beautiful homes and architecture. Such history. So glad you had a great time. Hugs, Marty
That is the funniest picture of me, EVER! Time to get back to Weight Watchers. Once again, love that your eye found things I missed, and filled in some gaps. I love, love, love Charleston.

Happy OW!
Oh my heavens, it looks like heaven. When we went to Hilton Head, we had one day to go out and meander around, we picked Savannah. It was lovely and all, but I think I would have loved Charleston, the ambiance, the architecture, the victorian history.
My sister-in-law and I were just discussing how we should go down there next year. They went 2 years ago and just loved it.
I am thinking "Let's go"!
Thanks for sharing!

A beautiful city! Thanks for the tour. If you enjoy reading, Dorothea Benton Frank has many book set around the Charleston area that are pretty good.

Janie,
I enjoyed your posts on the special cities of Savannah and Charleston. I noticed you live in Foothill Ranch. My niece is there and my in-laws live in Lake Forest. I know that area well.
Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Gorgeous.
The hotel you mentioned seems like such a great find...I will have to keep it in mind for future travels. We really like to visit Charleston and who wouldn't with all of its beauty? Those planters are an inspiration aren't they?!
I hope you have had a wonderful day...it sure looks like you did!

Looks great! Haven't been there is MANY years..my friend graduated from the Citadel...went on to become a General in the Marines..
Janie,
You have really captured the essence of Charleston so much better than I did!! Your hotel is to die for. I must have really overlooked it!! How beautiful your room was!! And breakfast and cocktail hour? YES!! The beach bikes look like so much fun!! A great way to see more in less time. I loved all the wrought iron as did you and the architecture was amazing. We really want to go again. And although I liked Savannah, I heard it was the "Poor man's Charleston". For the money we spent, I would skip it.
Great post!!
xoxo
