True Grit

The Handsome Husband and I went to see the new version of True Grit. Could Jeff Bridges live up to John Wayne's portrayal of Rooster Cogburn? I thought it was a realistic portrayal of the character; a little more pathetic than the John Wayne version.
The girl who played Mattie did an awesome job. Overall, I liked the movie, but didn't have that "I must see it again" feeling like I did when I saw Tombstone or Overboard. My husband liked the John Wayne version better.

I recommend this movie for adults and older teens. There are a few surprisingly violent scenes that made me jump and I don't think they would be appropriate for a youngster.

I really want to see this one. I have so many movies to see! Lucky me, I have a movie theater across the street so now with my free time I'll have to catch up!
I had no idea this was a remake, which is so funny because last night at a dinner party my friends and I were discussing how we hate how they're remaking so many movies......Karate Kid, supposedly J. Lo in Overboard (ugh!)
I was like, "I feel like my parents, complaining about this sort of thing." Haha. Guess I'm not QUITE as old as I thought since I thought True Grit was an original. :)
Loving the movie recaps.
