Good Friday

If he gives his life as an offering for sin,
he shall see his descendants in a long life,
and the will of the LORD shall be accomplished through him.

Prom Dress Made of Starburst Wrappers

My girls are all out of high school now and I can tell you we spent many, many, many hours looking for Prom dresses. This teen in Wisconsin, named Tara, has a special dress to go with the "Candyland" theme of her prom.

Senior Tara Frey says she just "lucked out" on the theme because work on her dress actually started six years ago. She'll wear a dress made from Starburst candy wrappers. Each wrapper has been folded eight times and pressed with a tweezers for a tight weave. It's the work Tara's mom, Kerrin, and a few of her friends.

Kerrin Frey says she got the idea from a mother who started weaving gum wrappers during her children's hockey games. Tara even has accessories for the April 30 prom — Starburst shoes, flowers, a purse and even a candy wrapper vest for her date. KARE-TV asked Zane Heinselman what he thought about his Starburst vest. Heinselman just smiled and said he really doesn't have a choice in the matter.

I can't believe the work this mom has put into this dress and that her daughter is actually going to wear it! It is really pretty and fits her perfect, but teenagers are so self conscious and I would imagine a fight from one of my girls. It really is fun though, and I hope she has a great time!

Iphone cases- Monogram Lane

While surfing the web, I came across this website called Monogram Lane. I found these cute iphone cases. They also make them for your ipod.
You can customize any pattern in any color and pick your monogram style. You can also pick the color of the monogram and whether you want it in a solid circle or a ring. Does that make sense to you? I'm not great at explaining things.
For example, this blue bloom background could become pink and the monogram green.
They are so bright and cheerful. Because of the great colors, they would be easy to find in your purse. I had a black lining in my purse and a black phone and could never find it. I got a white case and it made the phone so easy to spot. I've now decided to try one of these babies. Only problem is deciding on a color, pattern, monogram, etc. Decisions, decisions!

TOMS Espadilles - Super Comfy

I've often looked at the TOMS shoes but was never attracted to the flat sole and the wrap over top of the shoe. I love that when you buy a pair of shoes, another pair gets donated. What a great idea! When I was shopping the other day, I came across these. Bingo! I bought a solid red pair and a blue striped pair and let me tell you, they are so COMFY! I've worn them several times and have gotten many compliments.
Check them out - I found mine at Nordstroms.

Chicken Fried Steak - Awesome Recipe

I wish I could claim this recipe as my own, but I can't. I found it in Sandra Lee's Semi Homemade cookbook and I LOVE it! I also use this same recipe to fry chicken. My family loves it. It is so easy. The gravy is to die for. Give it a try. (I also don't have a cast iron skillet and it works fine. The trick is to get the oil nice and hot before adding the steak). It comes out crunchy and soooo flavorful.

Easter Table Inspiration

I thought I wanted to use pink and green for my Easter table and then I saw this. I'm loving the soft oranges, cream and blues. I will be adding green. I'm hoping we get a nice day because I wanted to eat outside, but so far it looks like a chance of rain.

R.I.P. Shadow

Today we lost our little black dog, Shadow, to kidney failure. It has been a painful week. He was the best little dog. We love him so much and we will miss him terribly. He was pure JOY.
If you howled like a dog, he would howl with you,
He hated crows. He would bark and huff and puff if they flew over our airspace.
He was smart and did many tricks. He would chase bunnies, but never really wanted to catch them. I've seen him chase a bunny down and ease up just when he would have caught them. He loved to go for walks and rides in the car.
He was super fuzzy, but when he got his hair cut, we called him lambchop, because he looked like a little lamb.
He followed me everywhere, living up to his name.
Rest in peace, Shadow, we will see you in heaven.
