The Kindle - Latest Generation

What do you get the man who has everything, loves to read and loves electronics? The Kindle! Right now the kindle is on sale at Amazon.com. The latest generation for $299.00. At first, I didn't want to accept the Kindle, I love books. I love the smell of them, I love to see them on the book shelf and I love to see my progress as I go through the book, I like to loan them to friends. I didn't want a kindle for me or for my Handsome Husband. Then I was flying to Savannah and I sat next to a man who loved his Kindle. I checked it out. I quizzed him: Did he like it? Could he see the screen in all kinds of light? Was it sturdy? Was it easy to use? Positive answers to all the questions. We are getting ready to go on a vacation and to save space on books (HH would take at least two) and to provide a birthday present for the man who has everything, I took advantage of Amazon's sale and bought HH the kindle for his birthday. I had to give it to him early because his birthday is after our vacation, but I wanted him to be able to use it on our vacation. I have to say, he was pretty excited!

But I problem won't be buying one real soon. I too love books for the very same reasons you do.

Cool Janie. I knew you would buy one after witnessing your conversation with Kindle man on the plane. Was just a matter of time. Bob's so lucky to have a great gift giver like you as a wife.

Hi Janie

I am slowly coming around to the fact that I might like to own a Kindle one day. I adore books but it would be so much easier to travel with a Kindle and I'm at the age where I'm thinking of downsizing and it would be a good way to hold back on buying more books that need shelve room/

I've heard about this but when I checked, it was out of stock at Amazon. I've been checking out Sony's. I wonder how they compare. I think Kindle has a very good review. Let us know how your hubby likes it after he's used it for a while. I am considering giving it as a gift for my hubby too. Thanks..Christine

There is nothing like the smell of a book, old or new cause it brings back childhood and teen memories. They have a peculiar attractive smell even when dusty. Have you been to second hand bookshops? Hmm I love that smell. And the content of course. I wouldn't say no to a Kindle anyway cause it is better to read anywhere than not to. Content is important, learning from the book so I guess with can skip a smelling session or two. Your HH will certainly be happy. Saving space in your bags is a good idea if you travel ;)

My husband just purchased a Kindle and it arrived last week and he loves it. We are both big readers so I keep saying I want to hold paper but it looks like I am going to give in and probably get one for myself some time in the near future:) I am sure your husband loves it!
