Outdoor Wednesday - Yellowstone National Park

Please join A Southern Daydreamer for more outdoor beauty.

About 5 years ago, my husband's family all gathered in Yellowstone National Park for a week. We had a great time. We saw elk, deer, big horn sheep, a bear, marmot, fox, coyote and plenty of buffalo! We saw amazingly beautiful scenery. It felt so good to be in the wilderness and see nature at work.
We stayed at the Old Faithful Snow Lodge, which is within walking distance to Old Faithful.
We saw so many animals just off the side of the road. No hiking involved. The most majestic animals were so close.
Everywhere you looked there was beauty. The weather in August was perfect and I would go again in a minute.
The waterfalls were easily accessible. They were incredible. Such power!

Beautiful, but stinky, paint pots were everywhere.
Here is a picture of our family (less the handsome husband, who is taking the picture) and his brother and his family.
Big Horn Sheep

Delaney and Emma (Delemma) on the only real hike we took. We were trying to get a glimpse of a moose, but we never saw one.
Hiking takes a lot out of you. You got a catch a nap when you can!

If you are considering a vacation to Yellowstone, Go, Go, Go!!! You won't regret it.

What beautiful pictures, and that bear. I had a big bear on my back porch a few years ago...I don't know who was more scared, me or him.

Hahaha, that last pic of Katie is a classic. I loved Yellowstone too. We went on a family vacation as kids, back of the stationwagon with sleeping bags, mad libs, etc. Great memories. Went to Jackson Hole, WY same trip. Very fun.

Oh, how I love your blog! I especially like how the colors of your border echo the colors in your header photo. I feel like a tired traveler after visiting Yellowstone, Charleston, and Savannah, plus seeing your vegetable farm! I've been to the two southern cities; they are favorite vacation spots, but I've never been to Yellowstone or California. I have bookmarked your site so I can visit again... with three daughters we have a lot in common!

Fun Janie!!! Your family is beautiful!!! Too bad you didn't catch a glimpse of a moose, next time! I see them quite a bit around here. When I first opened your blog, I saw the mountains in your title photo and fell in love instantly!

What a wonderful post with fantastic shots of Yellowstone. We haven't been there for about 15 years and would love to go back again. I can remember having to stop the car and wait for buffalo to get off the road and also the many elk around the mammoth hot springs area. I also remember the stink of the bubbling paint pops ;) You brought all the memories flooding back - back in the day it was 35mm photos but I think I need to go pull out the album and revist our trip after seeing your fantastic photos.

Janie,

These are wonderful pictures and you have sold me on Yellowstone!! I never knew you could be in such close contact with wildlife (and not be killed!). Do you think you will ever go back?

I have been so bad about getting to all of my blogroll but I saw a little of your trip to Charleston. So I am going back now and will leave a comment if you want to check. Hope you had a great time!
