Fall Foliage and Covered Bridges in Vermont

The Handsome Husband has invited me to go on a business trip with him back east at the end of Sept. I am very excited about this. I've always wanted to see the fall foliage back east. I know it is a little soon, the height of the season being Oct., but I'm hoping we will be lucky. We are going to drive up to Vermont and go on a Covered Bridge Tour (in our own rented car). My problem is hotels rooms. Almost everything is booked solid.
I would be grateful for any suggestions from anyone who has done this before.

I'm excited and looking for hotel/bed and breakfast rooms every chance I get. Praying for an early turning of the leaves!

How nice, Janie! You sure have been travelling a lot this year! Have you checked out B & B's?? I am sure you have, you stayed at that great one in Charleston. Sometimes you have to stay in the next town or somewhere obscure, so I would suggest you check a map and then google the chamber of commerce for the town. A lot of small towns have very quaint inns.

Good luck!!

We've done this many time & it is truly difficult to find rooms during the turning of the leaves. Get on the internet & plot your travels & check with small towns rather than big ones.

You are going to truly enjoy this ... it is awesome. You can never tire of the breathtaking beauty God paints this earth during autumn.

Also, make sure you buy FRESH maple tapped syrup ... there is nothing like it. Don't go for the tourist trap 'canned' stuff. They also have maple syrup candy & cookies that are fabulous.

Sometimes there are lines & lines of cars on the roadways so we always try to take the country roads to saunter along on.

When you get back let me know as I'd love to hear about your adventure.

Enjoy! Have a lovely week. TTFN ~ Marydon

Try the Woodstock Inn in Woodstock. This town has a beautiful covered bridge and I think it's the prettiest town in Vt. If you stay there...I recommend that you eat at Barcley's. Nice atomsphere and good food. You'll see some nice color even then!!

That will be an awesome trip! There should be plenty of color even if it's not at the peak. Good luck on Lodging, do you have any long lost cousins? Hehe,Cindy

Enjoy. We have a map that shows locations and descriptions of more than 100 covered bridges.

My friends and I were thinking of a Vermont weekend this fall also! :)
You will LOVE the foliage!!!!!!! Especially if you fly in when it's still light, it's like a big patchwork quilt of fall colors. :)

I too think you should B&B it. Try to find Bob Newhart's Inn. LOL
