My Handsome Huband has perfected the art of the selfie.
This chateau was one of my favorites. Built and owned by women throughout it's life. Its beautiful on the inside as well as the outside.
Chateau de Chenonceau
It truly looks like something out of a fairytale (but, actually, they all do)!
It has this beautiful extension over the river. The chateau was built before they had hallways, so one room goes into the next. Which I felt was really weird because in order to get to the library, you had to go through the Queen's bedroom. Hallways were such a great invention. It truly looks like something out of a fairytale (but, actually, they all do)!
I loved this pink and purple garden.
The chateau belonged to Diane De Poitiers who was the King's mistress, when the King died, the Queen forced her out to exchange Chenonceau for Chambord and moved in.
This is the extension over the river, the perfect place for a party.
The kitchen , which is in the bottom of the chateau (in the river). The chateau was used as a hospital during the war (not sure if that was WWI or WWII, sorry). Deliveries were made to the kitchen via the river.
The pink garden from the window.
You approached the chateau through a beautiful tree lined path with this outdoor structure hidden in the trees and it also has a maze.
This is a must see chateau. Other than Versailles, it is the most visited chateau in France.
