It was such a beautiful morning today. My friends and I decided to go for a hike on the bike trail off of Modjeska Canyon Rd. (Bob and Shawn actually ride their bikes on this trail, YIKES!) We loaded up the dogs. Four dogs in the back of this suburban and another dog in a different van and we headed out. Pictured here are Sadie (lab), Koda (puggle) and Daisy (who knows).

The road starts out wide but narrows to a fire road. It is uphill and very steep. The dogs were excited. Especially Daisy. She has never been in this situation before. We let them off the leash and they had a blast running ahead of us, but they would never get too far away.

This hill is sooo steep. You can really feel the burn in your calves and hamstrings. It is pretty steep going down as well. I need new shoes with better traction.

Marlene coming up the hill. It is so steep!

Daisy waiting for me. At about this point Daisy decided she was done. She has arthritis and the vet told me to exercise her but not too much. Poor Daisy, I think today was too much. She rested in the shade and then when we turned around that was it! She made a beeline back. She wouldn't let us catch up. She would stop when we called, but soon as we started walking so did she. When we got near the road, Tina had to run and catch up to her so we could put her back on the leash. She was like one of those horses that are "barn sour" and will run at break neck speed to get back.

All the doggies are tired and headed back to the car. (Thank God, I'd had enough as well!)

Marlene and I decided not to walk that super steep hill on the way back and went around it. Daisy went with Tina and Kirsten up the hill. Suddenly, Daisy noticed that I was not with them and from the top of this steep hill she came barrelling down causing a mini avalanche!

We gave the dogs water throughout the walk, but when we got back to the car, they were super thirsty. At first, Daisy crawled under the truck and would not come out. After all the dogs were done drinking, she finally came out and got a drink herself. I'm afraid that next time I get the leash for a walk, Daisy is going to hide instead of trying to put the leash on herself as usual.

Koda, the puggle so cute!

Sadie the Lab. She is super fit. She will chase a ball all day!

Shadow, the old guy, who did just as well as the others. There was another dog, Kristy, who I didn't get a picture of. She was in the other car and always running ahead with her master Kirsten.
