Mountain Biking - Aliso Woods

Every Sunday, Bob and I go for a mountain bike ride.  Bob gets his real exercise on Saturday morning when he goes with his friends and basically justs keeps me company on Sunday.  I am seriously working so hard, while he could read a book and still ride faster and stronger than me.  We enjoy this time together and the scenery is beautiful.  We recently went after a little rain and it was amazing.  You could smell everything and the air was heavy and the sand was packed down and easy to ride.  I have to walk up a couple of the hills but Bob rides up and down everything no problem!

This is the entrance.  You have to ride about 1 mile on a paved road before you even enter the trail.
We saw this majestic bird as we were riding to the entrance.  We've never seen any deer like you see in Whiting, but plenty of tarantulas and stink bugs.
A left over corral from when this was a working ranch.
Once you get to the trail, you ride a wide dirt trail for awhile.  This is one of my favorite passages.  It is under a canopy of trees.  After this sycamore grove, you turn off the wide trail onto the single track trail.

Another favorite spot.  This is where the downhill begins and the speed picks up.  There are also blind corners and Bob has a bell on his bike to warn people coming the other way that we are coming!
Here is a long view.  You can't really tell, but the track is only 2 feet wide, sometimes it narrows to about 1 foot.
This is a really steep up and downhill.  I can barely push my bike!  It drops off the side down about 25 feet.
It doesn't even look so scary in this picture, but believe me it is!  It is filled with deep ruts and pot holes.
This ride is about 6 miles and it takes us approximately 45 minutes.  I love the way out (mostly downhill), because you get that breeze in your face and it feels so good.  I'm trying to build up my muscles and stamina so I can take on Whiting Ranch.
