Ah, springtime! Such beautiful days, warm sunshine and many hours of daylight make you just want to go on a picnic. A couple of weeks back, I decided I wanted a picnic basket. My mom had one ever since I can remember. Not an expensive basket, not prefilled with goodies, just a good ol'fashioned picnic basket. I started the hunt. I found various websites on which to buy. The problem was, they were all $150 - $250 each. (I saw them as high as $45,000, who buys that?)

I couldn't fathom laying out that kind of money for a picnic basket. (I'm sure my mom got ours at K-mart. She worked there for 20 years and came home with all kinds of deals.) I considered asking for one for Mother's Day or something like that. I even mentioned it to Alyssa. The girls could all go in (and daddy). Then I was at HOMEGOODS and I came across some PICNIC BASKETS. The exact one I considered getting at P
ICNICWORLD was sitting on the table for a third of the price.

It came with all these goodies, it was in perfect condition and I love it! So glad I waited.

It is made of sturdy construction and should last us forever! It is for four, but I can easily turn it into a basket for 6. I'm already considering changing out the plates and napkins to something more feminine.

I'm glad you found your picnic basket at a good price. I have one which I've had for years. It is empty. However, as a wedding gift we received a tricked out picnic backpack. It has all the things you show. We use it a lot. The salt shaker corroded and I pitched that. Otherwise it is in great condition and we use either of them.
LOve your picnic photos!
Spain... oooh how lovely your post of Spain is and how lucky your are!!!
BTW
I believe I will have paintings finished tomorrow afternoon... should be able to ship them Friday late afternoon or Saturday am... depending on DRYING!
Hi again Janie! Good for you for holding out for the right price! I'm exactly the same way. I actually take Tea Parties in baskets to shut ins and surprise my business owners when I go to shop for my garden flowers. Check out my post for last Saturday, 4/4...the caption is for a birthday celebration for a blogger out west, but the actual tea took place that day just because I got the "urge" to surprise the garden owner, a widower that is a lovely lady! After the tea party I served her & her grandaughter Paige (6) outdoors on her newly put together Bistro table just that very morning...she allowed me to use her Kitty Cats to stage them as if the had the tea party. Your daughters might get a kick out of seeing the kitty cats sipping from the tea cups! ;) I encourage you to use your Picnic basket the same way...I love contributing to putting smiles on peoples faces...there's too much in the world putting the frowns. I just know your Picnic Basket will be a big blessing to you, yours, and many other recipients! Be Blessed~ ~Au Revoir, ~CC Catherine from "Catherine de th`e Cups"
